Scandinavian Movement of Cinematic Skill: Creative Light Workshop

Camera Center Presents – A one day workshop with Cinematographer Geoff Boyle FBKS

Date:
 Febuary 2, 2011
Time: 9.00am - 6.00pm
Venue:
Gothenburg Film Studios
Studio 2
Polstjärnegatan 10
SE-417 56 Göteborg, Sweden

The workshop will work hands-on with light setups to discover the easy tips and tricks for most light situations. We will look into Mr. Boyle’s showreel of films, talk about them, and re-light setups from his previous productions.

We will work with HD camera systems and a 50 inch monitor with live feed of the image, to assess and judge the picture and its light effects. We will have a wide range of types of light equipment commonly used in film production.

Attendance:
Attendance is limited to provide for maximum experience during hands-on sessions and one-on-one time with Geoff. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

A basic layout of the issues discussed during the workshop:

Why do we do light? Is it just to make the right exposure or is it to create a special mood which enhances the story? At this workshop the participants will be shown examples of light set-ups from Geoff Boyle's showreel and diagrams from location setups. This will include shoots from the Swedish Wallander series and all the way up to the international production of Streetfighter.

When you have no money, what do you do? Geoff Boyle will show how he use small and cheap lights to give the look of million dollar shoots. To do this he will work with a variety of light sources to show how he finds the best solution for different situations.

Join this class to get inspired and to share knowledge in the matter of light set-ups for your projects.
